Összefoglalva elmondhatjuk, hogy a Múzeum több mint félmilliós összgyűjteményének mennyiségét tekintve annak minket érintő restaurálására sajnos kevesen vagyunk, mindez azonban számunkra igen változatos munkát tesz lehetővé. Kis műhely vagyunk, annak behatárolt lehetőségeivel. Ezeket azonban igyekszünk maximálisan kihasználni, folyamatosan fejleszteni és fejlődni. Bár e rövid áttekintés csak felvillanthatta a műtárgyvédelem múzeumunk-béli múltját, s csupán pillanatképet adhatott a frissen elkészült papírrestaurátorműhely felszereltségéről és munkájáról, korántsem fejeződött be a fejlesztés. Bízunk abban, hogy mind személyi, mind technikai téren lépést tudunk tartani a hazai és külföldi szakműhelyekkel, szakemberekkel, a megfogalmazott elvárásokkal. THE ESTABLISHMENT AND UTILISATION OF THE RESTORERS' WORKSHOP IN THE MILITARY HISTORY MUSEUM The study of the two restorers is a shortened, written version of their lecture held at the 28th National Restorers' Conference. In 1994-1995, meeting the needs of seven collections storing paper documents, a restorers' workshop was established in the Military History Museum. All costs of the investment were covered by the Military Museum Foundation, whereas our superior authority guaranteed a permanent post for a full-time employee to start the workshop. Through the introduction of the workshop's history and the furnishing process, the authors aim to emphasise that a multifunctional workspace may be established within moderate means, by gradual investments, even in a small area, provided that a reasonable long-term plan is made and adopted. The restorers' activity has brought forward changes in approach; their tasks now include the preservation, restoration and also the condition control of almost 50% of all the collection material in the Military History Museum. They have been instrumental in getting certain ideas adopted, like the need for the preservation of paper documents before being displayed, and the self-evident usage of anti-fading foil in exhibitions. The restorers also check the condition of exhibits and the storage circumstances of items and documents regularly. The introductory part of the study offers a survey of 80 years of preservation and restoration in the Military History Museum.
