Kalmár Ella: A "statisztikai" Nagy-Budapest 289-336

Tanulmányok Budapest Múltjából XXX. Ella Kalmár „STATISTICAL" GREATER BUDAPEST The aim of the study is on the one hand to compile statistical data related to the settlements making up Greater Budapest united in 1950, standardized for the whole period 1869-1949. On the other hand it gives a short survey of the settlements that have been related to Budapest as found in the statistical literature and publications and also how their list has changed with the flow of time. For the purposes of the comparative study of the agglomeration of the capital an agreement concerning the settlements that were to be ranged with Greater Budapest was to be made with the official statistical services of Hungary. The treaty of 1924 described first the 20 (Alag, Újpest, Rákospalota, Pestújhely, Rákosszentmihály, Cinkota, Rákoscsaba, Rákosliget, Rákoskeresztúr, Rákoshegy, Pestszentlőrinc, Kispest, Pestszenterzsébet, Csepel, Nagytétény, Budatétény, Budafok, Albertfalva, Pesthidegkút, Békásmegyer) and with the individuation of Sashalom and Mátyásföld the 21 and 22 neighbouring settlements. The censi of 1920 and 1930 (and the one planned for 1941) and every study written on Greater Budapest published in the 'Statistical Publications' uses the grouping mentioned above. The volume containing the preliminary data of the census of 1949 the constituents of Greater Budapest are also listed, but the list is different from both the previous 'statistical'- and the oncoming realization of Greater Budapest. Experts in statistics and in demography usually take the current frames of public administration to give the figures of the settlements. This method was not followed in our tables, in each case the volumes of census containing the repertory of municipalities was used and given. There is detailed explanation to the charts, analysing the sources and the figures. 336
