In 1901 the plot of the school was marked out and by the autumn of 1902 the new first-school had been finished. The year of 1907 brought about significant changes in the life of the settlement. Rákosliget was declared an independent village. It had about 2500 inhabitants. In 1917 the roll of honour of Rákosliget was published. Official sources mention 48-50 persons whereas others say 77. The war memorial erected in 1925 has 50 names. In 1920 a secondary grammar -school was opened, but after three years of struggle it had to be closed.
