EARLY DEPICTIONS OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT IN AQUINCUM Newest research approaches the weapons from the perspective of Roman tumuli. Some recent smaller comprehensive studies have reflected on military equipment, and two new publications on helmets have come out. New archaeological and rescue excavations have also brought up information concerning military equipment. The latest one was a silver fibula with fully equipped, fighting gladiators, found in the military town of Aquincum. We would like to contribute to the investigation and publication of the material related to Pannonian military equipment by the short presentation and evaluation of relics depicting armaments made after the early and marcomannic wars and the newest selected military finds of Aquincum. 179
