ROMAN DOG BURIAL FROM AQUINCUM Generally, it can be said that regarding its features the dog was average - as it can be established both from its height and skull. As I have already mentioned, it belonged to the third group of the dogs of Tác. Their whihters being at 45-65 ms and the shape of their skull was also similar. A rather thin, less vaulted skull with flat forehead and a fairly flat nose is characteristic of them. The dog found in Aquincum is distinct from the rest in the high level of treatment it received. It can be concluded also from its age and the visible traces of its illness, but the fact that it had been buried with such a great care. It is obvious that the dog played important role in someone's life. And apart from all this, it provides further détails to the multidisciplinary study of Roman animal keeping and urban lifestyle. 131
