ÓBUDA, RÓMAI KORI TÁBOROK, CANABAE ÉS KÖZÉPKORI VÁROS = ÓBUDA, ROMAN CAMPS, CANABAE AND THE MEDIEVAL TOWN = OBUDA, LAGERÂ I KANABE RIMSKOJ EPOHI I SREDNEVEKOVYJ GOROD - Kaba Melinda: Az aquincumi aquaeductus pilléreinek 1975. évi kutatása : előzetes jelentés 225-232

The author may add to this statement that if one bears in mind the particular attention devoted by the Romans to public utilities, to the construction and maintenance of water -conduits - there were special wardens supervising the water output and water purification then the seepage mentioned in the geologist's report must have ensued after the fall of the Roman Empire, when the damaged parts of the conduits were not controlled and taken care of any more. The deposits observed on top of the blocks, which could be caused by rain-water, had been maybe on the later, medieval level. Since the excavations had been finished in December 1975, the cleaning of the finds is in course at present, and therefore, the author will revert to the question of dating after the complete elaboration of the material. The excavations had to be adjusted to the demands set by the plan of the new road. For this reason the search for the track of the piers was continued day and night (at night by the light of a set of flood-lights specially installed for the purpose), and this way the plan of the new road, which is going to preserve the piers in the center of the eight-lane highway could be completed simultaneously with the archaeological excavations. The plans of displaying, conservation and reconstruction were made by Gyula Hajnóczi that of the new road is the work of civil engineer József Topái. In accordance with the plans, the western highway will be sunk to the level of the Roman footway, and this way the remains of the aqueduct, appearing surrounded by green lawn, are going to enrich the Hungarian capital with a unique ensemble of ancient monuments.
