CSABA BENDE THE STURCTURE OF THE ROMAN FURNACE AT BÉCSI ROAD Archaeologist Györgyi Parragi excavated a Roman pottery furnace in Budapest during the summer of 1970 at Bécsi Road 128, i he build ing material of the furnace was burnt bricks. The furnace has three technical units, the fuel opening, the furnace and the kiln. The fuel opening and the furnace are on the same level, the kiln above them. The lattice was made of clay, with the proper fire openings, held by brick archivolts above the furnace. The size of the furnace is 3, 65 x 3, 72 m. The size of the fuel opening 1, 74 x 2, 30 m. with a diameter of about 0, 75 m^. The kiln had periodic production. (Figures: 52-56) 1 "73
