master from about 1820 ; a chalice in the Roman Catholic church at Kiskundorozsma made at the beginning of the 19th century, is likewise the work of an unknown master of Pest who signed his work with the initial K. The chalice of F. Schiberna, a master in Pest, was made in 1834 and is now in the St. Anne church at Szentes : its style is strongly influenced by the traditions of the Empire. The Roman Catholic church at Kiszombor possesses a silver statuette of Christ : it was made by K. Laky in 1855 and has a romanticist design. It is also in the church at Kiszombor that a censer, made in 1836, was found : it is the work of a J. Pasberger II whose name was recorded in the annals of the guild in 1827. There are two more chalices worthy of record : one of them, made in 1835 by J. Müller, a master in Pest, is kept in the Roman Catholic church at Csanytelek, while Fig. 1 Chalice. J. Schätzl's work. In possession of the new Reformed qhurch, Hódmezővásárhely the other, a richly embossed piece, made in 1845 by the said Müller, is in the possession of the Roman Catholic church at Mindszent. The fine workmanship of the tinsmiths of Pest is represented by the goblets made in 1789 by S. Jurame which are now the property of the Protestant church at Hódmezővásárhely, while we gain an insight into the so far unelucidated history of the copper-and brass-smith's art in Pest by the eight brass candlesticks of the Roman Catholic church at Kiskundorozsma which represent the style of the age of Louis XVT. It is to be hoped that a continuation of the exploratory work now in progress will contribute further data to the still incomplete history of gold-, silver-, tin-, copper-, and brasssmithery in Pest and Buda, and complete our knowledge of the work and art exercised by individual masters.
