BudRég 30 (1993) 47-53. Factory its greatest competitor. The irony in this story is that the two factories were finally united in 1981 under the name Goldberger Textile Works. (GESZLER 1984, 420) In 1082 a confection sewing factory was set up (GESZLER 1984, 420), while production finally stopped in the Nagyszombat Street branch the next year in 1983. The Skála Coop Rt bought the lot in 1984 and a store was opened under the name Skála Sprint Food and General Store in the southwest part of the factory. This store closed up after 4 years. Then the factory buildings were rented. From 1995 one of the main renters was the Intcrfruct enterprise, which sold food in the place of the former grocery store until the middle of 2005 when the building was demolished. The EG Palace Kft. bought the lot with the buildings standing on it in 2000, and decided to build a residential district with an interior park over-looking the Danube in the place of the ruinous industrial district that had by then lost its function. The demolition of the factory buildings, which had been established in 1907 and rebuilt a number of times, was started m 2004-2005. In the following years the territory will be the site of the Sun Palace residential district, which will preserve a few characteristic features of the factory architecture. Here I would like to express my gratitude to András Vavra (Engel Group) for his useful advice regarding architecture, to Ferenc Fuksz (Engel Group) for the information on the recent utilisation of the buildings of the old factory. 1 owe my thanks to the collaborators of the Textile Museums in Budapest and Pápa who introduced me to the technology of blue-dying and offered their thoughts on the identification of the function of the uncovered features.
