Feltárás a Szentendrei úti aquaeductus nyomvonalán Excavation along the aqueduct on Szentendrei Road (Budapest, III. ker., Szentendrei út - Záhony utca kereszteződés) (Budapest III, intersectúm of Szentendrei Road - Záhony Street) A Szentendrei úti Auchan áruház építéséhez kapcsolódóan, a Záhony utcai csomópont fejlesztése, átalakítása (új bekanyarodó sáv kialakítása) miatt vált szükségessé a római vízvezeték egy szakaszának újbóli feltárása. (1. kép) Az ásatást 2003. szeptember 29. - október 18. között a Varpcx Rt. megbízásából végeztük el a Szentendrei út két útpályáját elválasztó füves sávban, a Záhony utca vonalától északra. A kijelölt 3,5 méter széles felület a vízvezeték 60-70. számú pillérei közti szakaszra esett, (Kaba Melinda számozása szerint, KABA 1976, 61. ábra) a római kori városfal vonalán kívül. A feltárás célja egyrészt a korábbi ásatások hitelesítése, újbóli dokumentálása volt az új sáv alapozása által érintett mélységig, másrészt két, a vízvezeték maradványaihoz tartozó, és a sávval lefedendő területen elhelyezkedő kőtömb szakszerű kiemelését és űj helyen történő műemléki bemutatását kellett előkészíteni. Az ásatás folyamán megfigyelhető és elkülöníthető volt a korábbi bolygatások, ásatások több fázisa, érintetlen terület azonban alig mutatkozott. A pillérek kőanyagának kitermelését célzó újkori beásásokat Foerk Ernő 1923-ban publikált kutatásai, (FOERK 1923) majd pedig Kaba Melinda 1975-ös ásatásai követték. (KABA 1976) A felületben kibontható A new stretch of the Roman aqueduct had to be unearthed because of the development and , modifications to the road junction at Záhony Street (the construction of a new turn-off lane) linked with the construction of the Auchan supermarket on Szentrendrci Road (Fig. 1 ). The excavation was commissioned by the Varpex Rt. in the grassy divide between the two carriageways of Szentendrei Road, just north of Záhony Street, between September 29 and October 18, 2003. The 3.5 m wide zone to be excavated included the area between pillars nos. 60 and 70 (based on Melinda Kaba's numbering system, KABA 1976, fig. 61) outside the Roman period town wall. The aim of the excavations was partly authentication of previous excavations and their re-documentation down to the depth needed for the foundation of the new lane, the appropriate lifting of a stone block from the aqueduct lying in the path of the new lane and its preparation for exhibition in another location. The individual phases of former disturbances and excavations could be observed and differentiated during the excavation, and we could hardly find surfaces which had not been previously impacted by former excavation work.
