Keletkezésüket és megőrződésüket elősegíthette, hogv a kiemelkedő útkorona mentén a viszonylagos mélyedésben összegyűlt víz átáztatta, plasztikussá tette a szubsztrátumként szolgáló kőzethsztesagyagos üledéket. Az ásatási terület északi részén, a római út laterális folytatásában, azzal egy szintben, a finom-homokos kőzetlisztes üledékre, határozott eróziós felszínnel durvatörmelékes kavicsos-homokos patakhordalék települ. The layers of the road interfinger with the embedding flood plain sediments: the sediment overlaps the layer of the convex road, which thins toward the sides, indicating that prior to renovation the sediment partly covered the ridge of the road. An interesting deposit was observed parallel to the axis of the road at the level of the first renovation. A sand\ layer of coarser grains was kneaded into the fine siltv organic-rich sediment forming folds having a few decimetres amplitude. Such folds may form when load is exerted on a relatively low-viscosity laver and are called load-structures by the geologist (Fig. 2).
