202 294. szám. should continue with a view to establishing and maintaining an orderly relationship between the supply and demand for sugar in the world market ; Considering that the present situation of the sugar market renders it both possible and necessary for the Governments concerned to collaborate to this end ; Bearing in mind the principle laid down by the above-mentioned Conference that any international agreement for the regulation of production and marketing should be equitable both to producers and consumers ; Have agreed as follows : Chapter I. Definitions. Article 1. For the purposes of the present Agreement (i) »Ton« means a metric ton of 1,000 kilograms. »Long ton« means a ton of 2,240 lbs. avoirdupois. »Short ton« means a ton of 2,000 lbs. avoirdupois. (2) »Quota year« means the period from the 1

st August. (3) »Sugar« shall be deemed to include sugar in any of its commercial forms, except the product sold as final molasses, and also except the so-called »Goela Mangkok« sugar produced by primitive methods by natives of Java for their own account to which sugar the Government of the Netherlands East Indies does not extend its legislative measures. The sugar equivalent of exports of the product known as »fancy molasses« from Barbados shall, however, be charged to the export quota of the British Colonial Empire. The respective export quotas of sugar referred to in this Agreement shall, in the case of cane sugar producing countries, mean and refer to the nature and the types of sugar heretofore exported by such countries ; and, folytatni abból a célból, hogy a világpiacon a cukor kínálata és a kereslete egymással rendezett viszonyba hozassék és tartassék ; megfontolva, hogy a cukorpiac jelenlegi helyzete lehetővé és szükségessé teszi az érdekelt kormányok részére, hogy ebből a célból együttműködést fejetsenek ki ; szem előtt tartva a fent említett konferencia által lefektetett azt az elvet, hogy minden — a termelést és eladást szabályozó -— nemzetközi egyezménynek a termelőre és a fogyasztóra nézve egyaránt méltányosnak kell lennie ; az alábbiakban egyeztek meg : I. Fejezet. Meghatározások. 1. szakasz. A jelen egyezmény szövegében — (1) »Tonna« 1000 kg-ot kitevő metrikus tonnát jelent. »Hosszú tonna« 2240 angol fontot kitevő tonnát jelent. »Rövid tonna« 2000 angol fontot kitevő tonnát jelent. (2) »Kvótaév« a szeptember 1. napjától augusztus 31. napjáig terjedő időközt jelenti. (3) »Cukor«-nak kell tekinteni a kereskedelmi forgalomban megjelenő mindenfajta cukrot, kivéve a melasseként eladott terméket, és az ú. n. »Goela Mankók« cukrot, amelyet a jávai bennszülöttek saját szükségletük fedezésére primitív gyártási eljárással készítenek és amelyre a Keletindiai Holland Gyarmatok Kormánya nem terjeszti ki törvényes intézkedéseit. A barbadosi »Fancy mêlasses« néven ismert termékekből kivitt menynyiségek cukoregyenértékét az angol gyarmatbirodalom kiviteli kontingensének terhére kell elszámolni. A jelen egyezményben említett egyes cukorkiviteli kvóták, amennyiben nádcukrot előállító országról van szó, olyan természetű és fajtájú cukorra értendők és vonatkoznak, mint amilyen cukrot ezek az országok eddig is kivittek ;
