HONTI LÁSZLÓ Hangtani és szemantikai megfelelés az uralisztikai etimológiai kutatásban For more than hundred years some vocabulary items were reconstructed as containing the consonants <3 and ő in the proto-language but the phonologically unmarked, i.e. basic, members of the relevant oppositions (Ű and j, respectively) could not be assumed. The present paper argues for reconstructing л and X instead of ő and d, respectively. These sounds are known in certain dialects of Ostyák (though as reflexes of PU/PFU *s and *s) as strongly articulated noisy liquids with a very small lateral opening. From these sounds it is possible to derive all the current Uralic reflexes (e.g. t, /, ő, l’,j, d). The putative etymological connection between Fi suo ’swamp’ and Hu tó Take’ or Fi sulka and Hu toll ’feather’ and corresponding items in the other Uralic languages is made problematic by the phonological correspondence Fi s— other Uralic t-, which is highly unusual in this vocalic environment. This problem can be solved with the assumption of Proto-Uralic/Proto-Finno-Ugric Ű- (but there is no basis for assuming j- for the proto-language!). There are several lexemes in the Uralic languages which appear to belong to the earliest historical layers but which, on account of phonological problems, are labelled in the etymological dictionaries as of uncertain PU/PFU origin, if at all. Mikola Tibor feszegette azt a kérdést, ha két rokon nyelvben olyan lexémák találhatók, amelyek szemantikailag jól illenek egymáshoz, de nem mutatnak szabályos hangmegfelelést, vajon nem tartozhatnak-e mégis egy családba: „Ahol egy látszólag áthidalhatatlan hangtani szakadékot látunk, de ahol minden egyéb körülmény az egyeztetés mellett szól, ott legalább meg kell kísérelni hidakat építeni” (Mikola 1976: 211). Ebben a dolgozatban erre vállalkozom. 1. Az egyik probléma, amelyet e tanulmányban tárgyalok, az alapnyelvi interdentális spiránsok léte és milyensége. Ezen írásomban olyan rokon nyelvi szavak összetartozását próbálom igazolni, amelyek az eddigi etimológiai szótárak U/FU/Ug szóállományából „kiszorultak”. Korábban háromszor is foglalkoztam ezzel a kérdéssel (Honti 1992, 2001, 2004), szükségesnek láttam azonban újra elővenni egyrészt azért, mert némileg módosítanom kellett korábbi nézeteimet, Nyelvtudományi Közlemények 108. 43—60.
