A nyugdíjkorhatár körüli népesség munkaerőpiaci helyzete 1994-ben (1996)

I. BEVEZETŐ

I. INTRODUCTION As a preparatory phase of the microcensus of April 1996, the Hungárián Central Statistical Office carried out a pilot survey in September, October and November 1994 on a representative national sample with approximately 25,000 dwellings. Simultaneously, on a smaller sample, supplementary questionnaires were alsó filled in on persons born in 1944 or earlier. The study of the labour markét situation of the population around pensionable age - 50 years and over - has been allowed by the joint processing of the two sets of data. Both the pilot survey and its supplement included questions concerning the possibilities for being in employment, intention to work, working conditions of persons 50 years and over and related other topics. The present volume is mainly based on the data of the supplementary survey, while those taken from the pilot survey only include information unavoidably necessary to understand the labour markét situation of persons aged 50 or above. (In somé respect the limited sample size has not allowed for a more accurate and detailed study, thus the presented and analyzed phenomena are to be interpreted taking into account the confidence limits of the survey samples.) The first part of the tabulations of the publication gives a picture of the economic activity of persons 50 years and over as well as the demographic and occupational composition of such active earners - in comparison with similar data of younger age groups. In the second part information is given on the further intention to work and the precariousness of the job of active earners 50 years and over. These data are alsó crosstabulated with selected demographic (e.g. marital status) and occupational (e.g. branch of industry) characteristics. The third part of tabulations deals with main data of employment besides pension and the last employment before retirement of pensioners by own right 50 years and over. The analysis of the main results and the tables are complemented with a chapter on the methodological information and the explanation of the most important concepts used in the publication. 11
