II. SUMMARY

Some further demographic characteristics come from the diverging distribution by age. For instance, at the housing estates the number of women per 1 000 men is less than the national average, and at the housing estates there are more married and less widowed than other places. In connection with the relatively young age of the housing estate population, the educational level is higher here than other places. Since the proportion of children and working age population is higher at the housing estates, the proportion of dependants and active earners is also higher, the proportion of inactive earners is lower. At the housing estates there are more nonmanuals and less manuals than other places. The rate of those employed in manufacture is very high, since the housing estates were built mainly in industrial areas. The proportion of one and two members households is lower at housing estates, the proportion of three and four members households is higher than other places. There are 33 more children per 100 families at housing estates than other places.
