Műtárgyvédelem 35 were also coloured, generally with red marbling on a yellow ground, or with lines imitating those of ashlar masonry. In the first tract of the chapel’s nave, in registers, the scene of hell in the ‘Last Judgment’is depicted on the south wall, while ‘Paradise’ is shown on the north wall. Additionally, the wall of the semi-circular apse is decorated with figurái biblical scenes at window height. On the lower sections of the wall beneath the windows, geometrical, tapestry-type embellishments were used. SHAM’s research, which is still under way, will, following complete uncovering of the frescoes, be directed towards reconstruction of the frescoes in the Crusader chapel, and towards establishment of the various periods of the painting work.
