Kissné Bendefy Márta - Újvári Mária: XVIII. századi bőr lábszárvédő restaurálása

West European works, especially those pertaining to military attire. The results of this research were also of help in trying to identify the person who had been placed in the crypt wearing this type of legwear. During the course of restoration, the loose and flaky surface was first stablized using a diluted solution of fish glue. Then, the weakened and tom parts were supported by pieces of vegetable tanned calf skin. Glueing in this case was carried out using a mixture of rice starch and poly(vinyl-acetate) dispersion. Missing parts, such as the straps below the knee and one of the knee-shields, were reconstructed. Finally, the parts were sewn together following the holes of the original seam.
