Restaurálás - Konzerválás - Katkóné Bagi Éva: Egy 1806-os polgárőrségi zászló restaurálása
This Hag survived in an extremely fragmented state, so that no sewing could be used. Restoration, therefore, was carried out by lining. The banner was cleaned in 1980, therefore during the course of the 1993 restoration it was treated with a mixture of 2 % glycerol and distilled water which was spread along the fibres and keeping to the size of the flag’s remains placed on a glass plate. The fragments were thereby softened and easier to handle so that they could be fitted into their original position within the flag. Lining was carried out by ironing a sheet of crepeline material, covered with a mixture of Mowilith DMC 2, Mowilith DMC 5 and water, onto the back side of the banner. The proportions of this mixture were 1:1:4. Missing parts were replaced by appropriately colored poplin material. Sewing was used to reinforce this new structure wherever possible, thus making the banner suitable for exhibition again.
