Restaurálás utáni állapot, részlet KISS, Péterné Restoration of a painted yoke - Summary The author presents the restoration of a richly painted and cerved 19th c. yoke that is at present in the possession of the Munkácsy Mihály Museum in Békéscsaba. In order that new additions should be discernible the missing structural elements of the birch wood object were made from beech wood. Cleaning was carried out in a 70:30 mixture of water and acetone to which a detergent was also added. For disinfection a 4% solution of pentachlorophenol dissolved in petroleum was used. The fragmented carving was completed by Araldit SV 427 epoxy resin using the silicone negative of the existing parts. For gluing Araldit Rapid epoxy resin was employed. Lacunae in the painted surface were joined by "coletta" and Miillendorf chalk added to linseed oil, dammar varnish and Venice turpentine. Retouch was done by tempera to which Plextol (an aqueous dispersion of acrylate copolimers) was added for better adhesion. The object was provided with a coating of Rowney Mastix diluted by turpentine. After drying it was brushed over by bleached wax paste. List of figures 1. The yoke before restoration 2.
