DEPARTMENT IX - DEPARTMENT OF METHODOLOGY AND ADP The duties of this department are the following: - to carry out and coordinate methodological and archival researches, - to collect and publish information concerning Archives and archival material, - to organise secondary and high professional level archival training courses and examinations as well as to publish professional training material, - to edit the publications of the Archives and implement technical works, sometimes also produce the publication, - to build larger databases, as well as to coordinate and organise the application of ADP in the Archives. DEPARTMENT X - DEPARTMENT OF PRESERVATION The duties of this department are: - to organise preventive preservation measures, - to restore parchments, papers and bindings, - to carry out bindings, - to disinfect records, - to carry out researches concerning the preservation of the holdings, - to give expert advice. DEPARTMENT XI - CENTRAL LIBRARY OF THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF HUNGARY The holdings of the Library, amounting to nearly 100.000 volumes, are being kept in the buildings at the Bécsikapu square and at the Hess Andràs square. The libraries may be used by the staff of the Archives and by researchers as well. For those making archives access, only on the spot reading (research room) is possible. The holdings are primarily rich in both Hungarian and foreign professional archival literature, auxiliary sciences of history and pre-1945 printed matters related to the Hungarian Parliament.
