I enclose a copy of the „Messager de l'Assemblée" of the last night containing an imaginary account of the supposed dinner at Mr. Baroche's in which a pretended circumstantial detail is given of a conversation alleged to have passed between myself and some of the representatives of the northern courts, as to the treatment of the refugees in England and the intended reception of Mr. Kossuth. Mr. Baroche called my attention to a reply which he had inserted in the „Patrie" of last night, which I also inclose, in which the invention is treated as it deserves. The great objection to all the details given being that no such dinner ever tookplace. Mr. Baroche took this opportunity of saying that some uneasiness had certainly .been felt here, and by the representatives of other powers as to the extraordinary reception which had been annouced would be given to Mr. Kossuth in England, but he had been much tranquillized by some of the recent articles in the English papers which gave the assurance that the true nature of Mr. Kossuth's present position and designs would now be known, and that his proclamation from Marseilles had not been without its natural effection in England. Mr. Baroche ridiculed the idea that Mr. Kossuth had been entrapped, by his ignorance of the French language, into using expressions which he did not intend. He said that whatever he might have
