Baranya Megyei Levéltár (Baranya County Archives)
1945 to 1950 important material for the agrarian history of this period. Equally significant records are left by the Baranya County Board for Collecting Surplus Produce and Livestock and its 226 village delegates. Of the regional organs of jurisdiction the records of the Pécs Popular Public Prosecution (1945-1948), the Pécs Table (1945-1950), the Pécs Attorney General's Office (1945-1950) and the Pécs Public Prosecution (1945-1948) are already in archival custody. In the archival material of the corporations established after World War II the Baranya County Farmers' Co-operative Council is the most important (1945-1964). Among the associations the Batsányi Society and the Pécs group of the Hungarian Writers' Federation deserve to be mentioned. Among the socialized agricultural enterprises the papers of 250 farmers' co-operatives are valuable sources. An archival bulletin is published yearly with the title Baranyai Hely történetírás (Local History in Baranya); the first volume appeared in 1968, the last one in 1974. A series for county history is edited and published by the Archives with the title Baranyai Monográfia Sorozat (Series of Monographs on Baranya). There is a research service in Baranya County Archives. For this purpose the research room is open five days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is a film collection, with a "Local History Collection" in it. This film archives contains the material of the Hungarian National Archives and those of the neighbouring countries, relevant for Baranya. Two microfilm readers are at disposal, also a film laboratory for the production of copies. The special libray of the Archives collects work on Baranya county and Pécs in the first place.
