The Archives have a common reading room with the Library. A microfilm reader is at hand. The reading room is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on workdays, but from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Those doing research in the Archives may use the Ráday Library as well (125,000 volumes). Archivist: Gyula KISS The traces of the Archives of the Transdanubian Reformed Church District are found in the eighteenth century. The records had no permanent place of preservation yet, they followed the wandering of the episcopal seat. In 1821 Ferenc TÓTH, the chief notary of the church district, planned the establishment of permanent archives, therefore he let the material, preserved then at Dad, transferred to Pápa, so the records of the bishop and the chief notary have come to the same place. The records were listed, and in 1813 the professor of academy, Béla SZÉKI was elected archivist . In the course of the following one century and a half the archives under­went many vicissitudes, and during World War II the records sufferred major damages. At present the archives belong to the Collections of the Reformed Church District, an organization uniting the archives, the library and the museum. The arrangement of the records, mixed up during World War II, was done by Dezső TRÓCSÁNYI. * The archival material totals 188 running metres. It contains two charters prior to Mohács. The most ancient record dates from 1510. The bulk of the material is made up by the administrative records of the Transdanubian Reformed Church District (1583-1952).
