ARCHIVES OF THE REFORMED (CALVINIST) CHURCH A MAGYARORSZÁGI REFORMÁTUS EGYHÁZ ZSINATI LEVÉLTÁRA (SYNODAL ARCHIVES OF THE REFORMED CHURCH OF HUNGARY) 1091 BUDAPEST, Kálvin tér 8.1. 10/c. Tel. 187-555. Archivist: Dr. Sándor LADÁNYI The separation of the archives from the registry of the General Reformed Convent and its organisation in a way worthy of its destination (the appointment of an archivist of self-standing status and doing his work as a chief occupation) happened in 1951 under the name of "Archives of the Hungarian General Reformed Convent" (in short: Reformed Convent Archives). The repository wore this name up to 1964, when the Convent was abolished. Practically all branches of work of the former General Convent have come directly to the competence of the Synod. It became also the maintainer of the Archives. As such, the Presidium of the Synod decided in 1970 to name the institution the "Synodal Archives of the Reformed Church of Hungary" (in short: Synodal Archives). By his decree No. 95229/1969. XVIII. the Minister of Culture declared the repository a special archives, defining its competence and collecting interest at the same time. The "Convent Archives" were cared for in 1821 for the first time by the "convent" of this year, when it ordered the Pest congregation to place it into a separate room. Records of the national official organization over the church districts, the General Convent (1881) began to be issued in 1878, when the preparations of its establishment were made.
