charitable gifts, papers on bequests and those of the lawsuit of succession between the Antoni and Rácz families between 1840 and 1845, etc. As a landlord the cathedral chapter produced the following records: those of the patrimonial court and the socage redemption, those connected to the management and administration of the chapter's estates (cadastral sheets, records of economic buildings and bridges, inventories, conscriptions, account books, balance sheets, etc.). * Owing to the unarranged condition of the material research is only possible under certain conditions and after previous notice. In research matters one has to address the high provost of the cathedral chapter (at present Dr. Alajos HORVÁTH). Dr. Miklós VERES A CSANÁDI PÜSPÖKSÉG LEVÉLTÁRA (CSANÁD EPISCOPAL ARCHIVES) 6720 SZEGED, Aradi vértanuk tere 2. Tel. 13-192. Director: Tibor NAGY The Csanád bishopric settled after the Trianon treaty from the town Timisoara to Szeged, beginning its activity in 1923. Back to 1873, the records related to the parishes in Hungarian territory were separated from their earlier place of custody and transferred to Szeged. The Archives are maintained by the Csanád bishopric. The archival material totals 40 running metres. About one half of it is made up of the records on the 62 parishes of the diocese from 1873 to 1960. The administrative records of the episcopal office cover the time span 1923 to 1944. The records of the former estate of the Csanád bishopric between 1924 and 1945 are also in the Archives. The material is open to research with the finding aids of the former record management. # Research is possible with the permission of the diocesan authority. Tibor NAGY 177
