demography. The "regulatio urbarialis" (1767) is, a practically complete collection, containing the records of the regulation of villein socage under Maria Theresa. In this precious archival group we find beside the "urbarial" tables the village assessments made in the course of preparation and, in case of more villages than one, the assessments of "extrasessional" holdings. To the records arranged at piece level subject indexes are added, according to villages. The records of the Kaposvár Urbarial Court (1850-1860) have an outstanding source value, being the basic source of the first two capitalistic decades as to the most important means of production, the land. The confidential and general records of the Lord Lieutenant of Somogy county (1860-1950) and those of the county nobilitary assembly, or municipality of Somogy county (1658-1950) are relatively complete. The records of the Mernye estate of the Custodiate of the Pious Fathers (1769-1950), of the District Court (civil and criminal processes, 1872-1944), of the Somogy County Districtual Production Commissariat (1919), the correspondence of Sándor Latinca, commissioner of the governing council (1919) and the records of the National Commission of Somogy County (1945-1949) also deserve mention.
