Mahunka, S.: Studies on the Oribatid fauna of Kenya (Acari: Oribatida) I.

Remarks: The new species is well characterized by the short and not strongly erect interlamellar setae and by the ratio of the anal setae (anj shorter than an2). On the basis of these, the new species stands nearest to Hoplopthiracarus inflatus Niedbala, 1984 described from Zaire, The latter is distinguished from the new species by the much longer lamellar setae, the not dilate rostral setae, the shape of the sensillus and the longer notogastral setae. I dedicate the new species to my friend Mr. S. M. HAMID (Mombasa, Kenya). Oribotritia tiwi sp. n. One pair of strong lateral carinae present, connected with the lateral margins close to rostrum (Fig. 27). Rostral and interlamellar setae erect, much thicker than the filiform lamellar setae.
