Miskolc AGRARIAN VEHICULAR CULTURE IN HUNGARY The study deals with the characteristics of traditional Hungarian overland vehicular culture. Animal drawn sledges on snow were used in every village of the speech area. Within the Hungarian speech area trade and transportation of farm goods were mainly carried out by wheeled vehicles throughout the centuries. The most used ones were the four wheeled carts and wagons. The history of several wheeler centres and the local wheel types they spread goes back to many centuries. Local cart types can be defined through the interpretation of the wheelers and of the people who used the vehicles. It is important to analyse the changes of traditional vehicular culture in order to extend the research on transportation. 150
