THE TRADE FAIRS FROM MURES COUNTY IN INTERWAR UOCAU ROMANIAN NEWS This paper analyzes - from an ethnogaphic point of view - interwar media informations about local trade fairs. Fairs are seen like bridges between rural and urban society, not like a sign of urbanisation process. In modern age, there is a gap between West and Eastern Europe in fairs development. Fairs in the West have fallen due to the growth of large cities, while in the East they have a very high development to the emergence of large railway networks. The local news is only one of the research sources for trade fairs, besides the official documents, calendars, postal cards or travel journal. It is a very important source for economic anthropology because we find here, besides the simple registration of the periodical fairs, a lot of news about the impact of the fairs on the city daily life, some interesting description and spicy current news about fair life. The articles in local newspaper brings to us additional information about the fair life such as that about the goods sold, about their quantity and quality, selling prices, tips for buyers and seller and some irregularities in fair organization too. 179
