170 Zs. Nyárádi the left one was next to it. Its filling was dark grey, slightly mixed, containing brick debris. The grave had been dug over S-9. S-9: trench 1, D: 539.06 m, O: 282°, G: male, A: adultus. The skeletons head region had been disturbed, near the later church’s external ground level. The skeleton was in good condition, the arms had been stretched along the body, with the hand placed on the femurs. Its filling was dark grey, brown, with patches of coal and contained brick debris and mortar fragments. S-8 had been placed on top of it. S—10: trench 1, D: 539.07 m, O: 284°, G: male, A: adultus. As a result of digging grave 11 the part below the waist had been destroyed, and furthermore the skull is also missing. The left arm is stretched along the body, and the right hand was placed on the pelvis. Its filling is brownish dark grey, slightly mixed with brick debris and mortar. Right of the shoulder we have found a coin dating back to the reign of Louis I of Hungary (PI. 5/10), which was supposedly placed in the grave. S—11 had been buried on top of the skeleton. S-ll: trench 1, D: 539.03 m, O: 267°, A: iuvenis. The skeleton’s bones are in relatively good condition, the skull is fragmented, the teeth are in good condition as well, and the hands are clutched together above the pelvis. Its filling is grey humus with small pieces of brick debris and mortar. The burial was made over grave S—10. S-12: trench 1-2, D: 538.97 m, O: 280°, A: infans II-iuvenis. The bones were in poor condition, the skull had been crushed, the bones from the right arm were missing, the left arm was over S-16, and both arms had been stretched out alongside the body. The filling was brownish dark grey, slightly mixed humus. The body had been buried at the same time as the one in grave S-16. S-13: trench 1, D: 539.02 m, O: 280°, A: adultus. The bones were in poor condition, the skull had been destroyed, and only the spine, the left clavicle and the scapula were preserved. Its filling was dark grey, brownish, slightly mixed humus. Graves S-14 and S-16 had been buried over it. S-14: trench 1-2, D: 539.01 m, O: 272°, A: iuvenis. The upper half of the skeleton had been severed by the later digging of grave S-15, and the bones from the legs had been damaged during excavation. Its filling was dark grey, brownish, slightly mixed humus with pieces of mortar. It is intersected by grave S-15. S-15: trench 1-2, D: 539.08 m, O: 274°, A: baby infant. The skull is fragmented, and only a few bones remained which were in an advanced state of decomposition. Its filling was a dark grey, brownish layer slightly mixed with brick debris. When we collected the bones we noticed the dark brown, carbonized trace of organic material underneath the skull, which was supposedly the remnant of a funeral veil. S-16: trench 1-2, D: 538.98 m, O: 280°, A: infans II. The skeleton was in poor condition, the skull and several bones had been destroyed and the tibias had been damaged during excavation. Its filling was dark grey humus, slightly mixed with brick debris and charcoal. The child was supposedly buried with a parent (S-12). S-17: trench 1, D: 539.06 m, 0:276°, G: male? A: adultus. The grave, which was exceptionally close to the surface, had been disturbed by plowing, and only a couple of fragments of the skull and a few bones from the arms were left. Its filling was brown, clayey and contained much charcoal. S-18: trench 1, D: 539.3 m, 0:292°, A: infans I. The skull was in poor condition and was fragmented, and mostly the ribs and a few larger bones were preserved. The filling was dark grey, slightly mixed with brick debris and mortar. S—19 had been buried over it. S—19: trench 1, D: 539.5 m, O: 290°, A: baby infant neonate. The skeleton was in exceptionally poor condition barely anything was left of it. Its filling was dark grey, slightly mixed with brick debris and mortar. S-18 had been buried over it. S-20: trench 1, D: 539.5 m, O: 288°, A: baby infant neonate. The skull had been destroyed, and its bones had decomposed. Its filling was dark grey, slightly mixed humus. It had been partly buried over grave S—21. S-21: trench 1, D: 539.04 m, T: 238°, A: adultus. The skeleton appeared at the same height as the floor of the later choir, and the skull must have been destroyed during landscaping. The bones of the arms were damaged during excavation, and the pelvis and ribs were in an advanced state of decomposition. Its filling was dark grey, brownish, stained soil with mortar. Grave S-20 had been partially buried over it.
