MESOPHILIC MEADOWS They are mesophilic grassland belonging to the Arrhenatheretalia order. These secondary meadows are located on the slightly sloping hills. The correspondence between habitat type in classification system used at European and Romanian level is: NATURA 2000: 6510 Lowland hay meadows [Alopecuruspratensis, Sanguisorba officinalis) CLAS. PAL.: 38.2 HdR: R3802 Arrhenatheretum elatioris Br.-Bl. Scherrer ex 1925 Oatgrass meadows are common in hilly regions (385-557 m altitude). They develop mainly on eutrophic soils. Maintaining optimal conditions of the current phytocoenoses, and extending the areas occupied by oatgrass meadows, are conditioned both by regular fertilizing of the soil with organic or mineral fertilizers, and the prohibition of grazing in spring and autumn in those areas. The flora of the oatgrass meadows studied in this region is varied and rich, consisting of 212 cormophytic species (Table 6). We have identified the representative coenoses of this association on flat land or slopes with gradient of 2°-15° and SE, N and E exposure, in the vicinity of Stejärenii, Mihai Bravu, Nou Säsesc, Beia, Ruja, Stejäri§u and Angofa. Phytocoenoses are tiered and have a good coverage. NATURA 2000: 6520 Mountain hay meadows CLAS. PAL.: 38.31 HdR: R3801, R3803, R3804 25
