THE PEDAGOGICAL MUSEUM PROGRAMME “THE EUROPEAN BATS NIGHT” Daniela Ramona BOTO§ Muzeul de §tiintele Naturii Tärgu-Murej, str. Horea nr. 24, RO-540036 Tárgu-Murej, Románia Abstract: The Natural Science Museum from Targu-Mure? has developed between August and October 2009 a teaching museological programme called “European bats night”. The idea of such an activity has come from the temporary exhibition “Bats between science and legend”, itinerated by the Danube Delta Ecotourism Museum Center from Tulcea, from the dioframe, representing a cave, as part of the fundamental museum’s exhibition and also from the event “European Bats Night”, celebrated every year between August and September in European countries, in order to attract the public attention upon the jeopardizing the bats population. This particular programme has included three different phases: the documentation, the creation and the evaluation. In this process were involved six classes: the fifth and eighth graders from ’’Alexandru Papiu Ilarian” National College from Tärgu-Murej and also the fourth graders from “Europa” Elementary School from Tárgu-Murey Keywords: dioframe, European Bats Night, master plan, syllabus. The Natural Science Museum from Targu-Mure§ owns priceless collections of fossils, minerals, rocks, plants, fungus, invertebrates (snails, shells, insects), birds, eggs, mammals, haunting trophies, containing approximately 73 000 pieces. Starting with this rich patrimony, some general conclusions, a few minimal requirements from the collaboration between the museum and the school and also its efficiency, in the last few years the museum has done its best in order to create a strong approach to the school public. The beginnings were modest and sporadic. It all started with a few thematic visits to the museum exhibitions, some PowerPoint presentations, based on natural science themes, the commemoration of the important international nature days and a few trips in the nature, all of these factors leading to a flourishing collaboration between the museum and other educational institutions. The restructuring of the educational offer has developed into special pedagogical programmes, which are meant to increase the museum’s patrimony according to the teaching structure. One of the reasons why this whole idea with a new upgraded educational programme came up is because after December 1989, the public schools had lost their interest in the museum, due to the fact that the educational possibilities were not used properly in order to benefit the students and also the teachers. There were several hesitations from the teachers (the restructuring of the offer to be done in such a way so that it does not bring any harm to the master plan, textbooks and syllabus) and also from the museographers (the tendency to treat this sort of collaboration as a collateral activity in the matter of their scientific preoccupations).
