A§EZAREA „LA TÄU” - LOC. CECÄLACA, COM. ATINTI§(JUD. MURE§), ll-lll P. CHR NICOLETA MAN - CORALIA CRI§AN - DANIEL CIOATÄ A Settlement from the 2nd - 3rd Centuries - ‘‘La Täu”, Cecälаса, Atinti§ (Mure§ County) (Abstract) The rescue excavation from Cecälaca, Mure§ District, took place in the autumn of 2005, as a result of the landfalls, following the heavy rainfalls that damaged the site. Consequently, the research was carried out in two sections and a quadrate, aiming to recover as much information as possible. As it follows, in the first section, the remains of a house with an exterior hearth were discovered. The pottery belongs to four mains categories: Dacian, Roman tradition pottery, 4,h-6th century types and another category, chronologically belonging to the medieval period, more precisely to the 13lh-14th centuries. The grave, pertaining to a woman, age 25-30, cannot be accurately dated, since it lacks inventory of any kind. Due to the fact that it is an inhumation grave and the body is positioned with the head is pointing west, it is very likely that it dates from a period after the 6lh century. It is certain though that it is a post-roman complex, since it cuts through a Roman epoch house. Conclusively, we discovered a Roman epoch settlement, most probably belonging to the Dacian population (one of the pits contained both Roman and Dacian pottery and in the archaeological stratum the two categories were also mixed; the primitive aspect of the house also points to this conclusion), from the 2nd- 3rd centuries (a brooch dated at the beginning of the 2nd century, up to the half of it was discovered). In the vicinity of the excavated area there must have been a 4th - 6th century settlement also, as shown by the rich ceramic material characteristic to this period. It is possible that the grave belongs to a cemetery, but no supplementary data is yet available. A medieval settlement may exist in the area, as proved by the pottery discovered both in the excavation and in the surrounding area.
