LEGÄTURILE ECONOMICE ALE FOSTEI PROVINCII DACIA CU LUMEA ROMANÄ §1 ROMANO - BIZANTINÄ (SEC. IV-VII) FÁBIÁN ISTVÁN Economic Relations of the Former Dacia Province with the Roman and Roman - Byzantine World (4th - 7TM cen.) (Abstract) The aim of this paper is to persent a few aspects concerning the economic realtionships between the Roman - Byzantine Empire and the former province of Dacia. The study of these relationships must begin from the consideration that, this province was not „forgotten” by the Empire once the Aurelian retreat took place. The politic and economic influences remained strong, and we could consider that in no other place the late Roman and Byzantine civilisation, left so many and so deep traces in the social and political evolution, like in the north Danubian territory. Concerning the economic exchanges we could observe that it was a constant flow of raw materials from north to south (animals, cereals, wood, wax, slaves) and finite (even luxury) products from the Empire into the Barbaricum. The import of fibulae, vessels, weapons (in very little amounts), pottery, emphasises the presence of an economically active population and the presence of bronze coins in large amounts underlines the fact that this population had knowledge of monetary exchange not only barter commerce. Of course, there is a good probability that some of the precious luxury products may have been stolen or looted during the fierce raids organised by the migratory populations, as well as the presence of gold coins could be the witness of the tribute paid by the Empire for preserving the peace and the security of their frontiers. Panaitescu, C.C. Giurescu, Dan Gh. Teodor, C.C. Petolescu sau a unor speciali§ti sträini cum a fost Ch. Diehl, A.Vasiliev, G. Ostrogorski, E Stein, P. Lemerle etc. Poate nicäieri aceasta civilizatie romano-bizantinä §i apoi bizantinä nu a läsat urme atät de adänci in evolutia istoricä a unui spatiu ca Tn cazul fostei provincii traianice. De aceea cercetarea antichitätilor romanobizantine/bizantine, a importurilor, a arculatiéi monetäre ca §i a numeroaselor influente manifestate direct sau indirect, atät Tn mediul autohton cät §i Tn cel migrator, poate contribui la modul cel mai direct §i mai concret cu putintä, la о mai bunä precizare a multiplelor §i intenselor legäturi dintre cele douä lumi. In al doilea rand, din cercetarea detaliatä a raporturilor dintre lumea sud dunäreanä §i teritoriile din nordul fluviului s-а desprins concluzia cä Tn cursui perioadei secolelor IV-XI pot fi precizate doua etape Tn care s-a manifestat mai intens §i pe multiple planuri prezenta romaná ,dar mai ales cea bizantinä. 119
