CULTURAL CORRIDORS CREATED BY THE ENGLISH BOOKS ENTERED IN THE ENLIGHTENMENT LIBRARIES FROM TRANSYLVANIA (the 18th-19th centuries) (Summary) The study of the English books entered in great number in the Enlightenment libraries from Transylvania, offers a material support to the „Transylvanian Anglo-mania“, which cannot be founded only on the literary translations from English, on the travels made by the Transylvanian intellectuals to England or by the references to the English cultural model in the Romanian papers, at the end of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. The main surprising conclusion of the investigation in three important Enlightenment libraries (those of Samuel Teleki from Tírgu-Mure§, of S. Brukenthal from Sibiu and Timotei Cipariu from Blaj), is the evident preoccupation of the Transylvanian men of letters towards the English culture and civilisation, materialised in the great number of English books, coming mainly from the Protestant centres of Europe. In the case of the Teleki and Brukenthal libraries, the English books show primarily religious, political and national interests, while that of Timotei Cipariu is firstly constituted on cultural needs.
