A$adar, in urma studiului faunéi din a^ezarea anticä de !a Tirnavioara — „Cetate“, bazat pe datele oferite de descoperirile arheologice, constatäm cä a existat о preocupare permanenta a locuitorilor din Latene $i epoca daco-romanä de cre?tere $i imbunätäpre a fondului genetic al raselor de animale existente, precum $i a meti§ilor rezultad din íncruci$arile practicate. Aceastá ocupape este rezultatul unei acpuni de durata a populapei ba^tina^e care, aläturi de agricultura, practica cre$terea animalelor pentru asigurarea necesarului de hranä $i materii prime (piei, par, grasimi, etc.). ARHEOLOGICAL AND FAUNISTIC INVESTIGATIONS AT THE ANTIC SETTLEMENT OF TlRNÄVIOARA (Summary) The archeological investigations made in the years 1972—1974 in the antic settlement Tirnavioara-„Cetate“ brought to light beside dweling objects (ceramics, iron-objects, ornament-objects etc.) a number of 182 pieces of bonerest of domestic and wild annimals from the dacic, roman and prefeudal epochs. After the archeological and faunistic investigations there could be formulated some conclusions: — The antic settlement of Tirnavioara „Cetate“ was inhabited without interuption from the end of the Middle Latene till the IV century of our era, of a dacic and then daco-romanic population, that was engaged in agriculture and animal beeding (specially ovines and bovines). The bovines belong to two constitutional types: Bos brachyceros (the local race) and Bos primigenius (the race brought by the Roman colonists). The ovines belog to the race the copper sheep and finally the horses belog to the Roman horse. The beeding of pigs was made ouly sporadically and huntind was not a constant occupation.
