The American Hungarian Heritage Association AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2004 APEX RENT-A-CAR The American Hungarian Heritage (AHHA) Association every fall announces the Mary Katona Scholarship. This year two young ladies were awarded. Krisztina Aranyi, though bom in America, had sufficient experience about Hungary from her visits there. Fortunately having relatives around, she was able to see the difference of life between those in Transylvania and those in Hungary. The interest generated in her visits put her on the track of international relations. Besides Hungarian and English she gets along in French and German too. Jana Bárkin, third generation, American bom, is planning to look up her ancesteres place in along the sand dunes of Szabolcs Megye after completing her studies as a dental hygenist. Until then, she with her mother are trying to set foot on the Hungarian languge. Jana shows some of the prayer books of the grandparents, but her knowledge of the Hungarian languge is not much help in reading them. It is a good sign to see second or third generation young people to open their heart and mind towards the heritage of their ancesters and their traditions. We wish them success in their studies and hope to hear their ventures exploring their ancestors.
