WITH REGARDS FROM THE CAPITOL IN WASHINGTON Close to a hundred years that the United Church of Christ in Bridgeport was established. In honor of the 95 years anniversary the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. flew an American flag on January 4-th, 2000. This church like the many others was built by immigrants and their families. It was built by Hungarian immigrants. In a recent week the members of the church held a Dedication Ceremony and replaced the old flag by the one from the Capitol. The congregation gathered at the flag pole after the Sunday service. Rev Betsy Reed held a prayer, Joseph Poruban. Chief Elder talked about the flag and thanked Margaret Odachowski for her participation in obtaining it. Two young members of the congregation. Nicholas and Richard Visinski assisted in raising the flag to the top of the pole. Margaret Odachowski got in touch with the Honorable Christofer Shays’ office to let them know that the church is celebrating 95 years of existence.
