ISTVÁN 997-1038 Szár László Bogyiszló In one of the previous issues we had a typo. We only noticed it when the Magyar News was already printed. Our friend in New Jersey, A1 Bauer, also noticed it and sent us a letter. He also sent us a chart on the family-tree of our first king. We are happy to share it with our readers. You will notice, that in the order of the kings, number 7,8 and 9 are missing. These were Péter 1038-1041, Aba Sámuel 1041- 1044, and Péter 1044-1046. They were not immediate members of the Árpád House. FAMILY-TREE OF ISTVÁN KIRÁLY The boxes indicate the rulers of the Hungarian nation within the Árpád House. The numbers in the boxes give the order of seguence. The kings start with I. István, number 6. Mihály Vazul SALAMON 1063-1074 I. GÉZA 1074-1077 Él I. LÁSZLÓ 1077-1095 KÖNYVES KALMAN 1095-1116 WORLD FEDERATION OF HUNGARIANS László Papp was elected President of the American Council of the World Federation of Hungarians. The Federation intends to foster cooperation and mutual assistance between Hungarians in the mother country and those in other lands. Approximately one third of ethnic Hungarians live outside the country. Accepting the position of presidency, Mr. Papp emphasized that the World Federation wants to unite all those who feel attached to and responsible for the future of Hungary, without regard to political affiliation, religion or age. In the United States, the American Council expects to introduce the second, and even the third generation, to Hungarian culture and language. The American Council is an umbrella association of religious and civic organizations that retain their independent activities, but cooperate where they can reinforce each other’s work for the benefit of Hungary and their members. Mr. Papp is an architect, with an office in White Plans, New York. He was previously President of the New York State Association of Architects and Chairman of the Board of the Westchester County Chamber of Commerce. Presently he is a Town Council member in New Canaan, Connecticut, where he has resided since leaving Hungary after the 1956 uprising against Soviet occupation. We wish Mr. Papp success in his leadership. Page 7 i I. ANDRÁS 1046-1060 I. BELA 1061-1063
