He is a member of the Order of St. John which was organized in 900 A.D. whose members until 1950 were nobles. His father was a Marchese in the order and his grandfather, a mem­ber. The philanthropy of the St. John Order is the support of eight hospitals in Europe. Dr. Piri overcame the pain and tra­gedy of his early life by serving his God and Church in his new country.--------—--------.------------------------­­E.D.K. REPORTS on our recently passed events of the Club The Annual Hurka-Kolbász Dinner was held on April 15 at St. Emeric Church. Ted Tóth and Jim Hudák were in charge. The annual nomina­tions were also held at that time. Mu­sic was performed by the Steve Pál orchestra. * A meeting of the executive commit­tee of the Club was held on April 27th at Bill Köteles’ PEMCO building. Planning for the coming year was on the Agenda. * Our Annual May Event was held on May 12 at Gilmour Academy with the usual officers installation Dinner and also honoring the Hungarian Mother of the year. This year two mothers were honored in the persons of Dorothy Bolla and Edna Juhász. Invocation was done by Rev. Gábor Brachna. Silver plates were donated by Frank Dobos. The installation of the new officers was conducted by Fa­ther Antal of St. Elizabeth’s church, a recent Hungarian refugee priest from Transylvania. Hungarian style Dinner was served, installation was done in the Hungarian language in the alto­gether Old English Tudor athmos­phere of the Gilmour Dining Room. * Magyar Club Membership Dues for 1989—1990 fiscal Year are request­ed. Time is here to meet our annual obligation to pay our dues of $20.00, which really is very nomival. Checks to be made out to Magyar Club and to be mailed to our treasurer: Emery J. Szabó, 2479 Snowberry Lane, Pep­per Pike, OH 44124. * Hungarian Mothers of The Year Honored by The Cleveland Magyar Club in The Past Five Years Hungarian Mothers of the year were: Mrs. Kenny King (1985), Mrs. Margaret Bodnár Novotny and Mrs. John Palasics (1986), Mrs. N. Harasz­ti, Kati Kapossy (1987), Mrs. Stephen Körmendy (1988). Dorothy Bolla and Edna Juhász (1989). OUR FORTH-COMING EVENTS The 65th Anniversary Celebration of our Cleveland Magyar Club will be held October 8, Sunday with a formal Hungarian Style Dinner at 3:30 p.m. at the Bethlen Hall of the First Hungarian Reformed Church. (10706 Buckeye Road) The guest of Honor at that great occasion will be the Right Reverend Cardinal László Paskai from Esztergom, the Primate of Hungary. Chairmen: Frank Dobos and Ernie Hudák. Dinner tickets: $15.00. For reservations call Frank Dobos (333-2967). * The Traditional Christmas Dinner-Party with dance is scheduled for December 2, Saturday at Judson Manor’s Banquet Hall.
