MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 23. oldal Biste (Szlovákia) és Füzérkajata (Magyarország) testvérgyülekezeti találkozója confidently stepped before the congregation. They gave an account of their Biblical knowledge and a testimony of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Upon their acceptance into the communicant membership of our church a Bible was presented to each one of them. Following the festive worship service a special Coffee and Fellowship time was given to honor them. We all were having a marvelous time on the second Sunday of July at our annual Church Picnic. After our combined worship service the members gathered together in great numbers at the American Hungarian Cultural Center. The food was delicious as always, the weather was ideal and everybody had a wonderful time. For our Sunday School children there was an opportunity to play various entertaining outdoor games. The event was a great success. The Allen Park Community VBS with its “Big Splash” theme prepared the hearts and mind of our children for the upcoming Sunday School year. Our children had a richly meaningful yet a fun-filled time throughout the week. After Labor Day all of our groups the Dorcas Guild, the Martha Circle, the MAHAK and the Busy Bees resumed their activities in supporting our church. Their dedicated service shows true faithfulness to God. On the last week of October our Sunday School teachers organized a Harvest Festival for our children. They were excited to dress up impersonate their favorite non-scary character. Indoor games, movie, pizza and dessert was also part of the event. Our annual Advent Tea was held on the 2nd of December. Sixteen of our round tables were beautifully decorated and graciously catered by the hostesses. About 120 women in attendance enjoyed the joyful, heart-inspiring music ministry and moving testimony of Jenny and Chris Kokinos. It was a time for all to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and to search our hearts and to prayerfully prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. On December 14 our Hungarian Heritage Preservation Circle (Magyar Hagyomá-nyokat Ápoló Kör - MAHAK) celebrated the 20th anniversary of its establishment. On the Sunday before Christmas our Sunday School children presented their program in both English and Hungarian language. Those in the audience were also invited to participate. It was a great success but above all even a greater blessing to all. Following the program we all shared a pot-luck dinner. For another year in His service we “give thanks to the Lord” and proclaim to all that “He is good and His mercy endures forever.” We pray for God’s presence and leadership for us for the journey and challenges ahead.
