Zsolt Ötvös Chief Elder: János Samok 95 years ago, on October 10, 1915 the Magyar Reformed Church in New Brunswick celebrated the laying of the foundation stone of the church building. As our congregation looked back to these nine and a half decades of God's providence, and the service and commitment of our founding fathers, members, former pastors, we were filled with joy and thanksgiving. Our church was built in the times when Hungarians were just arriving from their motherland to start a new life. They arrived in hard times, with no possessions, only with their faith in God's promises, and with a yearning to rebuild a spiritual home they left behind. They were new to this country, many of them did not speak the language, they probably felt lost in a new world. In this welcoming, but unknown world it was God's Spirit who empowered them to have great dreams, courage, and sacrifice that little they had, as an act of faith, to build a sanctuary. They knew that the only and most important part that will always be the same in their life, wherever they are, is God's presence. It is God that can give answers, guidance, comfort, strength, peace, and everything one needs to live a meaningful and purposeful life. And God, through this mustardseed faith and devotion to Him, brought a new church to life. This message was that leaps of faith, service and sacrifice that is offered to Him always bears his blessing. Our forefathers experienced the truth of this promise in all of our churches. Today it is us who can live through that with God we could not only look back with thanksgiving, but also look forward with confidence. We are encouraged to continue our journey in the footsteps of the Lord, and by the lives of the "cloud of A szolgálattevők az ünnepi istentisztelet után a New Brunswick-i egyház templombejáratánál witnesses", our brothers and sisters who, in the past 95 years, were called to build God's Kingdom in the Magyar Reformed Church. We thank pastors and members of their churches who joined us in our celebration: Very Rev. Balint Nagy, Rev. Ernest Kosa, Rev. Prof. August Molnár, Rev. István Torok, Very Rev.
