MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 21. oldal HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH OF CARTERET 175 Pershing Ave. Carteret, NJ 07008 Tel:(732) 541-5051 Pastor / Lelkipásztor: Rev.Stephan M.Török Chief Elder / Főgondnok: Leonard Sendelsky By the grace of God the Easter holidays are behind us. We are grateful to God that he has given us another opportunity to hear the glorious good news from the grave: “He is not here! He has risen!” that we may reassure ourselves that we believe in a risen savior and can joyfully sing with Job “I know that my Redeemer lives”. Our church attendance was reasonable, even though we always expect that the good news of the resurrection will move others as well and they will come into the fellowship of believers. Also, Holy Communion was served to our sick and shut-in members before the holidays. Our Pastor also began Confirmational instructions for three of our young people, who hopefully will give witness of their faith during the Reformation Sunday service. Our beloved Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Sándor Szabó, visited our congregation on the Sunday after Easter. He was here to attend the annual assembly of the Eastern Classis. The members of the congregation welcomed him with love. We also found an occasion to meet with our Bishop in a very personal way during a Fellowship Coffee Hour before our combined worship service. We discovered that a member of our congregation by the name of György (George) Sándor, came from the same village that our Bishop served while a pastor in Hungary in the town of Cingand. It was a joyous reunion for them. We are also grateful that some of our elders attended the meeting of the Eastern Classis. We look forward to working together in building the kingdom of God in our midst. TRENTON, NEW JERSEY 180 Home Ave., Trenton, NJ. 08611 Tel: (609)396-9751 Pastor / Lelkipásztor: Rev.László Ujj Chief Elder / Főgondnok: John Molnár Easter occurred early this year and blessedly energized our Congregational life. When we were still filled with the beautiful memories of the Easter celebrations our organizations redoubled their activities. Our Youth Group served breakfasts every other week both between the worship services and following the English service at noon. The Sunday School also kept up with the good works. The number of enrolled students slightly increased to eight and most importantly their weekly attendance greatly improved. Several student indeed had perfect attendance thanks to their caring parents and to the Sunday School Superintendent Susan Csapó who was always at hand ready to organize their transportation needs. In May our Lorantffy Ladies’ Aid again went to their Women United Conference in record numbers. This year Rev. Albert Kovács’ Woodbridge Church hosted the Conference, which once again was both educational and testimonial to the friendly workings of this organization. Our Ladies Aid of course did not forget to support their Church with their Roebling Stuffed Cabbage sale. The historic Roebling is also home place of our sister Church there and it still has many Hungarians. 1 [■ 1 i The Minister also worked hard in these months. Although this year we had only one Confirmant (Taylor Gigliotti on picture), for next year there are already three candidates! We had two weddings in May and June and on the Independence Day weekend we joyfully observed the Sacrament of Holy Baptism to the youngest Molnár in our midst! Congratulation to the young Ryan, to the proud parents of Daniel and Jennifer, also to the grandparents John and Linda and the whole family. Three generation under the sacred wings of the Hungarian Reformed Church - a heritage worth preserving and extending! So, we start the summer with joyful gratitude in our hearts toward the Gracious Giver of all the good and perfect things in life as we faithfully seek His wisdom in our future endeavors as well! Rev. László Ujj
