This year it demanded diligent work from the members and their helpers in the Lorantffy Ladies’ Aid. Their work was successful and they helped us again with a record contribution. Some people in this community mistakenly take their work almost for granted when they believe that it is their donations that help the church. In fact, no matter how much our ladies produce (and they produce a lot!), the fruits of their quality labor sells immediately and without advertisement. We can use the same words to describe the activity of our Sunday School. They always seem to find new and interesting themes and tools to make their two Christmas programs uniquely memorable for all of us. On our pot-luck lunch a newly organized bell choir gave us a delightful musical experience with their charming debut. On Christmas night our families celebrated the birth of our Savior in the stillness of the Sanctuary with the joint program of our Sunday School and Youth Group. In January, the Hungarian community in Trenton had pulled together to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Lajos Kossuth’s visit in Trenton. This festive occasion was celebrated with a special luncheon held at the Beky Hall. Our guest speaker, the Hungarian Ambassador, Dr. Geza Jeszenszky compared the significance of our great hero to the role that George Washington played in history. Our local newspaper gave extensive reportings on these noble activities and thus raised the profile of our heritage further both in the community and also in the national level. With this memorable start undertaken, we hope that God will give His rich blessings on our works in 2002!
