Örvendetes, hogy közösségünk készséget mutat a rászorultak alkalmi segélyezésére és a testvéregyházak, intézmények támogatására. Értékeljük híveink egyházfenntartó áldozatát, a tisztségviselók-presbiterek, a „körök” és vezetők hűségét. Kovács és Miss Jamilyn Haight áldatták meg házasságkötésüket a lelkipásztor által a templomban. Szeptember 24-én A Női Kör Őszi Ebédet rendezett. Szeptember 25-én, hétfőn, Mrs. Dorothy Knapp elhamvasztott porai felett gyászistentiszteletet tartottunk a templomban. Október 1-én Egyetemes Úrvacsora napján, istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással, amelyre az úrvacsorái kenyeret és bort Kish István tb. egyházmegyei gondnok-presbiter és neje adományozták. Október 8-án, vasárnap az istentisztelettel egyidőben, megkezdődött a vasárnapi iskolai tanítás a gyülekezeti teremben Kovács Vincéné és Laczkó Jánosné tanítókkal. Október 14-én. szombaton, az egyház Női Köre sikeres Ételvásárt tartott egy városkörnyéki üzletnél. Október 29-én, az 1956-os Magyar Forradalom évfordulója alkalmából. Emlékebédet rendeztünk a gyülekezeti teremben, amelyen Stanley László szavalt és a lelkész beszédet mondott. A megjelentek énekét Csordás Gáborné orgonista kísérte zongorán. ROSETON, NEW YORK Szeptember 17-én hálaadó istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással, amelyre a jegyeket Széli Fred gondnok adományozta. PEEKSKILL, NEW YORK Október 15-én, vasárnap délután, úrvacsorái istentiszteletet tartottunk. Az úrvacsorái jegyeket Kaszás Albert gondnok és neje adományozták. ROEBLING, NEW JERSEY Pastor: .Leslie E. Martin 140 Norman Avenue, Roebling, New Jersey 08554 Telephone: (609) 499-0717 Church life continues to go well in our Hungarian Reformed Church of Roebling. Each Monday, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon, many of our members gather to make csiga and other noodles. Our helpers range in age from under 10 to over 90. Noodle-making has been a staple of our church fundraising activities for many years. This has also been the greatest opportunity to keep up with the local news and laugh and enjoy a good lunch together. Our expert Hungarian cooks prepare a wonderful lunch for the workers to enjoy. Once again, we will be making delicious kolbász in the Roebling tradition on December 9. This activity also helps raising funds for our church expenses. On November 12, we had a holiday covered dish luncheon immediately following worship service. We keep in our prayers the Bunce family who lived on our street next to the church until the eveing of October 26th, when a fire destroyed their home. Mr. Donald Bunce, age 62, dies in the fire. His wife and two grandsons and a granddaughter lived with him. They have since moved from our street to live with relatives. They lost everything in the fire. Rev. Martin has been coordinating collection of clothes, housewares and toys for the four and five year old boys. May God bless the family in this time of tragic loss. We pray for God’s healing and comfort in the lives of the surviving family members. Preparations are being made for Christmas Holiday Worship services. Our members usually participate in the worship service with music or poetry or scripture readings. We look forward to these very special services.
