* * * It has been a very rewarding year in Trenton. Our congregational life with its rich programs is not only proceeding smoothly, thanks to the dedicated leaders and members of our numerous church groups, but during last year we were able to accomplish new things as well. Finally, we found a new role for our famous Beky School Building: we decided that it would be a school building once again! Our large building now serves as the International Charter School of Trenton. With this decision our congregation accomplished two worthwhile goals simultaneously. First, this lease helps us to pay for both, the operating costs and the upgrades of this, up-to-now underutilized building, while our church groups will still be able to use it. Secondly, acting as a school site, this also enhances the profile and visibility of our church, located in a city that is affected by a massive departure of middle class families. As the only remaining Reformed Church in town, we are looking forward with realistic hope to serve God’s purposes and housing people in a safer and more suitable building. Our remaining plans (air conditioning of the Great Hall, and the handicap accessibility of our facilities) will move us toward this direction. Thanks again to those dedicated workers whose contribution of time and expertise made our progress so far possible. And thanks for the work of the enthusiastic and gifted Sunday School and Youth Group teachers and members! A record number of youth was rallied and showed up in our school this year Excellent programs and worthwhile projects made participation in these groups particularly rewarding. But, it is not only the physical energy of our youth that keeps the church securely cruising toward the calm waters of the safe harbors of our destination. Our Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Ladies Aid and the Women’s Guild of our church also worked tirelessly to the glory of God. The yearly tradition of our Christmas Bazaar was successful despite the obstacles given by the Fire Department. Our Ladies are proving again their charitable nature and fighting spirit with which they are serving our church. We thank all of them for making the fine chiga-noodles, the beautiful quilt. We thank them and praise God with the bilingual, yet unison Choir His angels taught us to sing: “Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!” Rev. László Ujj
