MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 7. oldal hold communion with God, and where only the words and thoughts of God can prevail. It is ours, and ours alone. No other person can intrude. Only we alone and our God can enter into its quiet peace and stillness. God gives us, at the right time, a sense of what is right for us to do. God is always and everywhere present in this inner meeting place. As we become more familiar with this special place, we can live at all times in the thoughts and feelings at a given moment. God is always caring for us, furnishing us with strength, wisdom, love, and all the good in the universe! In this inner sanctuary of spiritual communion with God, there is an answer to every problem. Wherever we are, whatever our task, we can always be aware of the love, presence, wisdom, and power of God within us. Our prayers enter into our sanctuary within us. At all times we are speaking to God, asking for something we want. God is speaking to us, asking something of us. Prayer is a time of words but it is also a time of silence. It is in the stillness that it all begins, and it is in the stillness that our search is fulfilled. It is both the promise and the answer, our hope and our redemption. It is here that we come to know beyond every possible uncertainty that God is with us, and with God all things are possible! PEACE WITHIN - Trying to toss about schedules, work, and other activities can lead to tension and anxieties about having enough time to fill all responsibilities. These feelings can be overcome while taking a God-break. Spending time with God can uplift and help to focus on what is important, an understanding that everything is in order will release any compulsion to get everything done at once. Renewed and revitalized can lead to accomplishing goals. “Go in peace. The mission you are on is under the eye of the Lord.” ( Judges 18:6) The feeling of peace is important physically as well as emotionally. The best wav to release the mental and physical discomforts is to place any anxiety into God’s care and keeping. God assures that everything will be right. All thoughts of apprehension and concern are quickly disappearing from sight. “A tranquil mind gives life to the flesh.” (Proverbs 14:30) God is within you, ready to comfort and reassure you. You need not ever feel alone in any situation, because God is there with you always. SAVE OUR YOUTH! At the beginning of April Bishop’s office had received a letter inviting church leaders and others for the Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future, to be held from April 27 to April 29th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After numerous letters, faxes and telephone calls from the leaders of the National Council of Churches, where our denomination belongs to and from the organizers the Bishop and Mr. Stephen Szabó Chief Elder of our Synod signed up for the event. On April 28th, Monday morning, a cold and rainy day, had participated in the grand Summit, which was held outside of Independence Hall in the heart of Philadelphia, where some two hundred two hundred and twenty years ago the country’s forefathers signed the gloriously inspired Declaration of Independence. On that morning event, under the title: the Presidents’ call to action Oprah Winfrey of T.V. fame hosted the program and the following notables were the main speakers: President William J. Clinton and Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton, President George Bush, President Gerald Ford, Mrs. Nancy Reagan, Vice President Albert Gore Jr., Governor Thomas Ridge, Governor Thomas X. Carper, Mayor Edward G. Rendeli, General Colin L. Powel, Genaral Chairman of the Summit, Rev. Jesse Jackson, William Richarson, the W.K. Kellogg, Foundation. Rebecca Rimel, The Pew Charitable Trust and also All 4 One CityKids Repertory Company and the Grammy All American High School Band. The latter providing entertainment for the delegates. On Monday afternoon, after having lunch in the Wyndham Ballroom of the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel the delegates in separate groups explored the ways in which various sectors of society must change in order to work together more effectively to achieve the common goal stated: “2 million by 2000” meaning: t “By the end of the year 2000, two million additional young people will have access to five fundamental resources that can maximize their success in an ongoing relationship with a caring adult, safe places and structured activities, a healthy start, a marketable skill through a quality education, and the opportunity to give back through their own service to the community.” (Quotation from a letter, dated April 23, 1997 from the organizers.) It was a memorable and eventful day indeed. May God help us to save our youth, while there is still time! Pearl Hatten A. F.
