MEETING OF THE EASTERN CLASSIS 1994 The Eastern Classis of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America met for her Annual Assembly on March 6th 1994 at the Trenton Church. Regis­tration was held from 2:30 p.m. The Meeting opened at 3:00 p.m. Opening devotions were offered by the Rev. Tamas Karla, Pastor of the host Church. Or­ganist for the occasion was Miss Priscilla Hunyadi. The meeting was called to order by Dean Rev. Stefan M. Torok. Roll call was taken showing the following officers of the Classis present: Dean Tor­ok, Chief-Elder Mr. Balint Balogh, Dean Emeritus Dr. Andrew Harsanyi Bishop, Secretaries: Rev. Ed­win Stern and Miss Priscilla Hunyady. Treasurer: Mr. Andrew C. Lovász asked to be excused. Attor­ney of the Classis: Mr. Alex B. Eger. Additional officers elected by the Classis: Rt. Rev. DDr. Dezső Abraham and Mrs. Elizabeth V. Novak delegates to the Synod and members of the Judicial Commis­sion of the Classis: Rev. Roczey, Rev. Batiz and Rev. Stephen Kovács, the only lay representative present was Mr. Gabor Csapó. Official delegates from the congregations: Beth­lehem Pa. Mr. Robert Csizma, Carteret N.J. Mr. Leonard Sendelsky, Linden N.J. Mr. Imre Toth, Perth Amboy N.J. Mr. Robert Zambo, Roebling N.J. Mr. Allen Birkholz, Trenton N.J. Mr. Les Martin, Washington D.C. Mr. Bela Toth. No representa­tives were present from Miami, Florida and Hous­ton Texas. Upon a motion all elders present at the Annual Assembly were seated as corresponding members. Greetings were extended to the Assembly by: Dr. Andrew Harsanyi Bishop, Mr. Stephen Szabó Chief-Elder of the Synod, Dr. Francis Vitéz Bishop of the Calvin Synod and Rev. Bela Poznan Dean of the Eastern Classis of the Calvin Synod extended greetings in the form of a letter. Rev. Poznan was honored by the New York 69th Street Church with a farewell dinner, as he continues his services in the Fairfield Church where he has been elected. Personal greeting in behalf of the Calvin Synod was expressed by the Rev. Albert Kovács General Secretary of the Synod. Dean of the New York Classis the Rev. Alexander Forro also extended a greeting to the Assembly in the form of a letter. Greetings were also offered to the Assembly by Rev. Marianna Király and Rev. Zoltán Korda from Princeton Seminary, representing their respective churches in Hungary and Transylvania. The minutes of the 1993 meeting was read and approved, which continued by the Dean’s Report. The Dean’s Report as in the past have been printed in both languages and made available to every rep­resentative from the churches. In his report the Dean spent much time on the life of the individual congregations, and also asked that since most of the churches are represented here, each official delegate would fill us in on the newest develop­ments of their church’s life. The Dean’s Report was followed by the Chief- Elder’s Report. Both have been accepted by the Assembly and were suggested to make part of the written records of the Classis. In the absence of the Treasurer the Dean re­quested one of the secretaries to give us the report of the treasurer. The meeting continued with the
