MAGYAR EGYHÁZ

1. The Hungarian Reformed Church in America would retain all her inherited and acquired rights and privileges and would govern herself without a historical break and continue to publish her official paper Magyar Egyház - Magyar Church;

2. Calvin Synod would keep all her inherited and acquired rights and privileges and would continue to govern herself without a historical break and continue to publish her official paper Reformátusok Lapja - Calvin Synod Herald;

3. The two aforementioned communions would form a united ecclesiastical body to be called The Federation of Hungarian Reformed Churches in America. Their governing authority would be The General Synod of the Federation of Hungarian Reformed Churches in America consisting of an equal number of delegates according to common agreement;

4. The moderator-bishop of the Federation would be the senior in office, the co-moderator would be other - junior in office - bishop: the chief-elder of the Federation would be the chief-elder senior in office, co chief-elder would be the other - junior in office - chief-elder; the secretaries would be the two secretaries, (clerical and lay) secretaries of the two respective bodies; the treasurer would be the treasurer senior in office of the two respective bodies. These seven office-bearers would constitute the General Council of the Federation.

5. Official papers would be signed by the two bishops and the two chief-elders;

6. The term of office for members of the General Synod and of the General Council would be two years; they could be reelected for another two years term;

7. A per capita quota would be required to cover administration and other expenses;

8. The Federation would be represented at home and abroad by the two bishops and the two chiefelders;

9. At ecclesiastical world gatherings both Synods would be represented by the same delegation;

10. The Federation would have the following joint committees:

a. Home Mission - to coordinate home missions,

b. Foreign Mission - to coordinat financial requests from abroad;

c. Theological Committee - for publications;

d. Financial Committee - to acquire necessary funds;

11. The two papers would be published separately until such time as a decision is made to merge them;

12. Ministers of either Synod may be elected to churches according to the process of the respective Synod;

13. Amendments to the above paragraphs may be proposed by either Synod and accepted by a 2/3 majority vote.

KÖSZÖNTÉSE

Van ennek a mai napon a New York-i Magyar Református Egyházban lejátszódó eseménynek egy messze kisugárzó mágneses ereje, ami idevonzott ily sokunkat. A kettős vonzó erő maga az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyház és annak, tisztségébe ma beiktatott, új püspöke, Főtiszteletü Forró Sándor iránt érzett nagyrabecsülés és szeretet. Személy szerint engem is ez a kettős vonzódás indított arra, hogy ide eljöjjek, és hogy, megköszönve a püspök úr által, nemes gesztussal, számomra kijelölt alkalmat, ezt az érzést szavakba is öntsem. Először említendő az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyház iránti nagyrabecsülés és szeretet. Két esztendő híján, ötven éve annak, hogy az Amerikai Magyar—akkor Független Egyház— megbízott a Staten Island-i gyülekezet beszolgálásával s rá hamarosan beiktatott

lelkipásztori tisztembe. Mélységes és örökkétartó hálával tartozom hát annak a közösségnek, amely, mikor hazát és életirányt vesztve bolyongtam Európa egyetemi városaiban, számomra nemcsak meghívó levelet, de hajójegyet is küldött, és megérkezésemkor nyomban számomra egy örökké emlékezetes szolgálati lehetőséget biztosított. Sárospatak, a németországi Halle, a svájci Basel és Genf, majd Princeton nagynevű professzoraitól sokat nyertem ismeretekben, de a szó szoros értelmében vett egyházépítés tudományát az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyház közösségében akkor még nagy számban feltalálható egyházalapítókkal együtt élve, együtt imádkozva és dolgozva leshettem el azoktól, akik, mint egykor az országalapítók, egész életüket rátették arra, amiben hittek, az anyaszentegyház
