14. oldal MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Ecclesiastical Secretary of the Synod. Both recommendations were unanimously accepted. Bishop Emeritus Rev. Dezső Abraham further reported that the Nominating Committee places in nominations the following members to serve as Synod Officers: the Rev. Stefan M. Torok. Ecclesiastical Secretary, Mr. Zoltán Ambrus Lay Secretary, and Miss Priscilla Hunyady as Treasurer, Mr. Julius (Szucs) Furrier as Attorney of the Synod. All nominations were unanimously accepted. Bishop Harsanyi expressed thanks for the reports and inform the Synod that all persons elected either by the congregations or by the Synod meeting today would take their official oath during a Special Divine Worship Service planned for the late afternoon. Bishop Dr. Harsanyi further requested a report from Miss Priscilla Hunyady on the Youth Conferences of our Synod. Miss Hunyadyinformed the Synod delegates, that this is one issue that both Synods, the Calvin Synod of the United Church of Christ and the Hungarian Reformed Church in America work jointly together without any feeling of division. Miss Hunyady requested greater cooperation on behalf of the pastors and congregations in preparing and sending their youth to the Conference. At the conclusion of the meeting the presiding but now retiring Bishop introduced the new make up of the Church leadership for the next term. Bishop: Rev. Denes Tamas, Mr. Robert Bone The Synod meeting concluded with benediction offered by the Bishop elect Rev. Alexander Forro who extended an invitation to all to join with him and all delegates in the service of Ordination and Installation immediately following in the sanctuary. Stefan M. Torok Ecclesiastical Secretary SERVICE OF ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION The Divine Worship Service of ordination and installation was held in the 82nd Street Hungarian Reformed Church in New York City beginning at 3:30 PM. The service opened with the procession of the ministers. Opening Apostolic Greeting was extended to the congregation by Bishop Dr. Andrew Harsanyi. Opening hymn was sung by the congregation. Scripture reading was offered by the Rt. Rev. Zoltán Szucs former Bishop of the Calvin Synod personal friend of the newly to be ordained Bishop. Pastoral prayer and the Lord’s Prayer were offered by the Rt. Rev. Dezső Abraham Bishop Emeritus in English. Prayer and Apostles’ Creed in Hungarian were offered by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz, Bishop of the Calvin Synod. The Message of Ordination was preached by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Andrew Harsanyi, Bishop, who also called forth the Bishop Elect Rev. Alexander Forro to take his oath of office. Special ceremony of the laying on of hands was called and pastors stepped forward to place their hands on the head of the now kneeling Rev. Alexander Forro and each with a scripture verse gave their blessings on the service of the Bishop. The newly ordained Bishop took the pulpit and preached his sermon based on the scripture from the Gospel of St. John chapter 14 verse 6. “I am the way the truth and the life.” The new Bishop gave a detailed reflection upon this verse from his personal life, when as a young 15 year old upon during an evangelism in Budapest at the Salétrom Street Congregation surrendered his life to the Lord.
